The Flo-Farm crossover aquaponics system is large enough to feed a family of 4 as well as supply small quantities of produce to your neighbors or local grocer (total of 40-50 kg of produce per week depending on crop types and strict following of planting schedules). It covers an area of 72 m2 (the size of 2 x standard double garages) with a width of 6m and length of 12m. It is designed to have wicking beds, deep-water culture beds and media beds.

It has all the components of a professional commercial system, but small enough to first perfect the practice of aquaponics before going commercial. Alternatively it can just remain a hobby on steroids that feeds you and more people around you. This is the perfect example of urban farming.

It comes fully installed with a 12x6m greenhouse.

The following is included:

2 x Fish tanks 

1 x Radial Flow Filter for filtering fish waste solids

1 x Biofilter for additional filtering of micro solids

1 x Mineralisation tank - to further breakdown fish waste captured by the filters ensuring you never have to clean any components or discharge any water. 

9 x aquaponics grow beds - the ratio between media beds and deep water culture beds can be specified by client

3 x Wicking beds - these are not coupled to the continuous water flow, but uses nutrients from the system - they contain soil and vermiculite. The vermiculite at the bottom of the bed holds all the water added via a pipe that runs through the vermiculite. Water "wicks" up from the bottom, making it a very effective and low maintenance concept. Water loss due to evaporation is far less than watering from the top. These beds are used for root plants like carrots, potatoes and onions as they become deformed in the gravel media beds.
